Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) has earned the prestigious Excellence Award in the annual Excellence in Tennessee recognition program administered by the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE). TNCPE is Tennessee’s only state-wide quality program patterned on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program,

the national standard for recognizing organizational excellence. TNCPE officially presented BTES with the award at the 20th Anniversary Excellence in Tennessee Awards Banquet on February 20, 2013. (Read More)

I received an email regarding producing an “about us” video for BTES and was excited as the award mentioned above is a prestigious award for an organization to receive.  Furthermore, the purpose of the video was to be shown as BTES received their award by the TNCPE.  I believe you will end up seeing this video on their website www.btes.net in the near future.

The first day of obtaining B-Roll was interesting.  We had received a heavy wet snow and MANY people were out of electricity–myself included!  Leslie contacted me and said, “This would be a good day to get some linemen footage.”  IT SURE WAS!  I had been out of power for about 18 hours already and hadn’t even had a shower yet, but I went to the office, got my gear and met the crew at the sub-station.  After a bit of conversation, I thought to myself, “I wish I was a BTES customer because they almost have power restored to the majority of their customers!”  I learned real quick how hard power crews actually work and sacrifice their time and being away from their families for thousands of people.  I knew they all worked hard, but I have a whole new respect for them!  Upon arriving at the sub-station, I was to meet up with Clayton.  I thought, “I wonder if this is the Clayton I know…”  It was!  Several years ago, I filmed some dance recitals where he was in charge of all the sound and lighting.  I discussed this project with Stan and ended up running this through as a Strategic Placement Group project as he knew Michael from there as well! Full circle & small world!

Needless to say, this was a fun project.  Leslie already had a well written script and had some photos from events in the past that BTES participates.  Oh yeah! She had access to a pilot who ended up taking me up in a plane to obtain an aerial shot of BTES headquarters and a sub-station.  I love flying so that was a bonus for me!

It was a pleasure and an honor BTES chose me to produce this video for them.  As you will find out in the video, they are a very respectable organization, truly care about their customers and as I mentioned earlier, I wish I could be a BTES customer!
